The events that are currently happening in Estonia are really terrifying. And they aren't connected to the removal of the bronze soldier anymore. Just a bunch of (drunk) people rioting without knowing the reason. There were a lot of teenagers who just wanted to vandalize and they didn't care about the statue. 100+ shops/institutions etc. were attacked, vandalized, robbed and burnt. One Russian guy got killed - he was stabbed by another Russian because they couldn't agree how to share the stolen goods...

In the meantime in Russia a statue erected for Russian aviators was removed. They just took it down with excavator! And the remains of their own fellow countrymen were just thrown in big black trash bags.

Estonians see the bronze soldier, erected in 1947 in the center of Tallinn, as a reminder of nearly 50 years of Soviet occupation. During that time 30 000 of Estonians were deported (using cattle cars) and resettled to Siberia and Central Asia. A lot of Estonians were killed with no other reason than being "anti-soviet". Okay, the Russians "freed us from fascism" but they brought communism.

As Estonia is an independent country I think we have the right to remove the mark that the occupiers left behind. As it may be a tombstone that will go with any remains we might find (it's not sure!), which will be given a decent and dignified reburial.
